Griffith and Vestel Sweep MPSF Fencer Of The Week Honors

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force fencing claimed both the men's and women's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Fencer of the Week honors for the week Oct. Feb. 3-9 competition, announced today by the conference office. Junior Jack Griffith won the MPSF Men's Fencer of the Week and junior Mira Vestel won MPSF Women's Fencer of the Week.
Griffith (Naples, FL) turned in a 12-3 record (.800) at the Miller Invitational (Feb. 9) in Chapel Hill, NC. Griffith went 3-0 vs. No. 11 NYU and No. 12 Boston College, and one win vs. No. 5 Penn State.
Vestel (San Francisco, CA) posted a 9-6 record (.600) at the Beguinet Classic (Feb. 8) in Durham, NC. Vestel went a combined 5-1 against No. 11 Temple (2-1) and No. 15 MIT (3-0).
The Falcons return to action Feb. 13-16 at the USA Fencing Junior Olympics in Charlotte, NC.
