
James Winterfield Earns Third Consecutive WAC Swimmer of the Week Award

ARLINGTON, TX., - James Winterfield holds a trio of honors after earning the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week for the third consecutive week.
The junior led the Falcons after securing three top finishes at the First Chance Invitational, hosted by Denver University, on February 7th and 8th.
"James has been amazing all season. The team has been tremendous, but James is leading the way," expressed head coach Rob Clayton. "He deserves this third-straight WAC Swimmer of the Week."
In the 100 freestyle, Winterfield notched a personal best of 44.40 for first place. With this time, he notched the fastest 100 free for Air Force and the tenth best in the conference.
The Charleston, S.C. native clocked a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke, with another personal best of 48.46, the top time for the Falcons and ninth fastest time in the WAC.
For his final top placement of the meet, Winterfield touched the wall at 47.40 in the 100 butterfly for the fourth best conference time.
Winterfield currently holds seven top-ten times for the WAC: 100 free (9th), 200 free (5th), 100 back (9th), 50 fly (1st ), 100 fly (2nd), 200 fly (4th), and the 200 IM (2nd).
Clayton said, "James is on a tear, and we are hoping to take it right into the conference championships."
