Women’s Tennis Goes Down at No. 20 UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – Air Force Women's Tennis took on No. 20 UCF in the first of three matches for the Falcons this weekend, falling 4-0 to the Knights at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.

Air Force (4-4, 0-0 MW) pushed UCF to the brink in doubles after splitting wins on lines one (Nadia Kojonroj/Arianna Van Houweling) and three (Alexis Odom/Maya Michalski). Air Force pulled out the first win, as Van Houweling/Kojonroj got out to a 5-0 lead over UCF's Olivia Lincer/Aya El Aouni before securing their court in a 6-1 win and snapping a three-match win streak for the Knight pair.

After a line three loss for Alexis Odom/Maya Michalski, the doubles point came down to No. 79 Falcon duo Sofia Mavor/Shivaani Selvan and UCF's Sophia Biolay/Olivia Bergler. The pair played down to a 5-all tie, before Biolay/Bergler took the final two games to clinch a 1-0 UCF lead.

In singles, the Falcons fell on lines five (Michalski vs. Hannah Rylatt), one (Odom vs. Lincer) and two (Van Houweling vs. Biolay) in order. Selvan, facing Donatelle Guanieri, went back-and-forth in the first set but came out on top in the opening set with a 6-4 win. The two were tied at 3-all in the second, before UCF clinched and the match was abandoned. Mavor, on court five, narrowly fell in her opening set against Jade Psonka. The freshman trailed 2-0 in her second set before the clinch.
