
Sam Stitz named AHA Rookie of the Week

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force freshman Sam Stitz was named the Atlantic Hockey America Rookie of the Week, as announced today by the league office.
The winger from Perry Hall, Md., had three points (2-1-3) in the series against Army, Feb. 14-15. In the first game, Stitz scored late in the second period to cut the Army lead to 2-1. In game two, he had two points (1-1-2). He scored the first goal of the game on the power play for a 1-0 Falcon lead. He then had the primary assist on Air Force's fourth goal late in the second period. In the series, Stitz also had two shots on goal and blocked a shot.
The weekly award is the first for Stitz and the sixth by a Falcon this season. He is the first Falcon to earn Rookie of the Week honors this season.
Stitz scored goals in back-to-back games for the first time in his collegiate career. He has six points (4-2-6) in his last four games. On the season, Stitz has played in 33 games and has six goals and six assists for 12 points with one power-play goal and one game-winner. He is fifth on the team in goals and seventh in points.
Air Force (13-19-2, 10-13-1 AHA) travels to Pittsburgh, Pa., to close out the regular season at Robert Morris, Feb. 21-22.
