
Air Force Fencing Combines For 11 Team Wins At Schiller Duals

Air Force fencing completed competition at the Schiller Duals, hosted by Northwestern University, which ran Sat.-Sun, Feb. 1-2, at Ryan Fieldhouse in Evanston, Ill. The two teams combined to go 11-9 in team competition, with the men's team going 4-6 and the women's team going 7-3.
The women's team went 3-2 on day one and a dominant 4-1 on day two, with the lone setback coming against #5 Northwestern. The Falcons defeated Lawrence (17-10), Fairleigh Dickinson (20-7) and Wheaton College (25-2) on day one. The Falcons defeated Wayne State (18-9), Cleveland State (19-8), Detroit Mercy (22-5) and Denison (16-11) on day two.
The men's team picked up wins over Incarnate Word (16-11) and Wheaton College (20-7) in day one action. The men added wins over Wayne State (17-10) and Detroit Mercy (13-8) on day two.
On the women's side, a pair from the foil group tied led the way with 17 wins. Anning Mi and Madi Converse posted 17 wins each, with Mi going 17-5 and Converse 17-7. Kira Lonadier led the epee group with 17 wins and Ellie Kim followed with 16. Mira Vestel led the saber group with a 14-5 record, which included a 9-1 record on Sunday.
Jack Griffith led the team overall with 21 wins in men's foil. Griffith went undefeated across four consecutive opponents at one point during the weekend. Omar Emara led the epee group with 14 wins and Siddhant Padhye followed with 13 wins. William Barber led the saber group with 14 wins, with Mack Luebbe adding 13 wins.
The Falcons return to action next weekend, with a pair of tournaments in the state of North Carolina. The Falcons take part in the Beguinet Classic Invitational at Duke University in Durham on Saturday, Feb. 8. The following day has Air Force at the Miller Invitational at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Sunday, Feb, 9.
