
Men's Swimming Boasts WAC Champion and Broken Academy Records on Day Three

HOUSTON, TX., - The third day of the Western Athletic Conference Championships was highlighted by one WAC Champion, Camden Swigart, and multiple top ten Academy times and record-breaking swims. The Falcons currently rank third with a score of 410.5.
"The guys were brilliant today," said head coach Rob Clayton. "We started off with school records in the first two events with James and Camden… they continue to lead the way."
Camden Swigart holds the title of 400 IM WAC Champion after clocking a time of 3:46.01, also breaking the Air Force record in that event.
"Returning Camden to the top of the podium in the 400 IM was exciting," commented Clayton.
In the same event, Evan Witte notched a 3:50.62 finish to claim fifth place in the A final and shift into the 5th all-time Academy spot.
James Winterfield logged an exciting day, as he broke the 100 butterfly Academy record with a time of 46.84 to place fourth overall, after claiming the 4th all-time spot in preliminaries. Tanner Wilson (48.11) and Daniel Detjen (48.58) placed 12th and 15th, respectively.
Tommy Nagle clocked a time of 53.00 to take fourth in the 100 breaststroke, for 3rd all-time for the Falcons. Fellow Falcons, Tanner Wilson (53.12) and Bridon Rosales (53.35) followed behind for fifth and sixth place finishes.
"The breaststroke was phenomenal, with three NCAA consideration cuts for Tommy, Tanner, and Bridon," explained Clayton.
The 200 freestyle saw Joe Christ finish as the highest Falcon in fifth, after touching the wall at 1:37.11. Tyler Surratt (1:38.29) claimed 10th, while Detjen (1:39.60) placed 15th.
Louie Body notched an eighth-place finish at 48.41 in the 100 backstroke, to claim the 8th all-time Academy spot.
Clayton expressed, "We could not be prouder of the guys, we are thrilled with how they are swimming. All their hard work this season has paid off. Tomorrow could be our best day, so we hope to finish off with some great swims and get more NCAA cuts."
The Falcons look to wrap up the WAC Conference Championships on Saturday March 1st at 10:30 a.m. CT/9:30 a.m. MT.
