
Air Force travels to tri-meet and then PRC Championships

This Week: The eighth-ranked Air Force rifle team travels to Columbus, Ohio, for a tri-meet against No. 12 Ohio State and No. 2 Alaska, Thursday, Feb. 6. Air Force will then battle for the Patriot Rifle Conference Championship, Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 8-9, in Ft. Wayne, Ind. The match starts at 8 am ET each day. The Rankings: Air Force's aggregate season average of 4717.091 is the seventh-best in the nation. Among other PRC teams, Alaska is second (4741.40), TCU is fifth (4724.80) and Ole Miss is eighth (4714.44). Air Force's air rifle average of 2381.00 is fifth in the nation. Alaska is first at 2386.80.

The PRC features five of the top 10 teams in the nation and all seven teams are in the top 16 in the country. The PRC consists of: Alaska (No. 2), TCU (No. 5), Ole Miss (No. 6), Air Force (No. 8), Nebraska (No. 10), Ohio State (No. 12) and UTEP (No. 16).
Last Year at the PRC: Air Force finished in second place at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships, in Fort Wayne, Ind. Air Force shot a 4729. TCU won the match with a 4739. Alaska was third (4727), followed by Nebraska (4711), Ohio State (4704) and TCU (4568). The second-place finish was the highest since a second-place finish in 2021 and ties as the best since the 2019 Falcons won the conference.
Air Force shot a 2348, the second-highest smallbore score of the season and the fourth-highest in school history. Morgan Kreb (graduated) finished fifth and Lauren Hurley finished sixth. In air rifle, the Falcons shot a 2381, tied as the best score of the season. Victoria Leppert won the air rifle with a career-best 599 while Hurley shot a 595. Hurley placed third in aggregate with an 1185 while Kreb was fifth with an 1184.
Top Falcons: Senior Lauren Hurley leads the team and ranks 19th in the nation with an aggregate average of 1181.909. Freshman Lily Wytko has an aggregate of 1180.272 and junior Victoria Leppert is at 1175.00. Hurley's air rifle average of 596.727 is the sixth best in the nation. Wytko is second on the team in air rifle average at 595.727. Hurley also leads the team with a smallbore average of 585.182. Hurley's air rifle score of 599 (Nov. 9) is tied as the fifth-best in the nation.

Air Force shot an aggregate score of 4736, just three off the school record. The Falcons also shot a 2352 in smallbore, just five off the school record. Junior Victoria Leppert shot a career best aggregate score of 1186, placing fifth overall. Senior Lauren Hurley was sixth (1185), senior Scott Rockett was ninth (1183) and freshman Lily Wytko was 10th (1182). Leppert also shot a career best 588 in smallbore. Rockett and Hurley tied for third in smallbore (589). Wytko shot a 586 in smallbore, followed by Megan Torrence (578) and Bethan Butler (577).In air rifle, Leppert's 598 tied for second and was a season high, just one off of her career best. Hurley and Wytko tied for fifth, each shooting a 596, followed by Rockett (594) and Butler (591).
