Air Force Falls To UNLV At Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men’s Basketball Championships

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - Eleven-seed Air Force men's basketball dropped a 68-58 contest at six-seed UNLV (18-14) in the opening round of the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Basketball Championships at Thomas & Mack Center. Senior guard Ethan Taylor led the Falcons with 23 points scored.
Air Force led for most of the first 26 minutes of the game, but a big scoring drought in the second half led to its demise. With Air Force leading by six points, UNLV went on a 19-0 run, over a seven-minute Air Force scoring drought, to jump ahead 60-47 with 4:00 to play.
After holding the Rebels to just 24 percent shooting from the field in the first half, the Falcons allowed UNLV to shoot 73 percent from the field in the second half.
Air Force led by as many as eight and held a 25-21 lead after a strong defensive effort in the first half.
Taylor capped his career by making seven three's, which was one shy of the program record for three's in a MW tournament game. Taylor also led the Falcons with six rebounds. He capped his season with 98 three's made on the season, ranking second in a season at Air Force.
Sophomore Caleb Walker followed with nine points off the bench, going 4-for-6 from the field. Sophomores Wesley Celichowski and Luke Kearney followed with eight points each. Senior Jeffrey Mills led the Falcons with five assists. Freshman Will Cooper had two blocked shots. Freshman Kyle Marshall came off the bench to add four points, five rebounds and two steals.
Air Force shot 35 percent from the field for the game. The Falcons made 11 three's, which was two shy of its record at the MW tournament.
Jalen Hill led four UNLV players in double-figures with 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Air Force graduates five seniors off the 2025 team.
