Starting pitcher, Dylan Rogers moves to 0-2 after throwing 4.1 innings with one strikeout and allowing eight runs. Charlie Russell was the first reliever and logged 1.1 innings pitched with no earned runs allowed. Out of the bull pen, Gunner Gilmore threw two strikeouts and gave up no hits or runs. In his collegiate debut, Josh Shropshire recorded three strikeouts, but saw one unearned run score off a single hit.
The Lancers were first on the board after plating four runs in the bottom of the first to lead, 4-0.
The Falcons marked a quick bottom of the second inning defensively, utilizing a fly out and a runner caught stealing by Zapp on a strikeout.
In the top of the third frame, Air Force lessened the gap to 4-1. With two outs, Chase Spencer singled to right, stole second, and made it to third on a throwing error on the Lancers' catcher. The next batter, Tripp Garrish gave Spencer time to cross home plate with a single to center field.
A single run in the bottom of the third saw CBU go up, 5-1.
The Birds put three on the bags in the top of four, with a single from Alex Adams in addition to a pair of walks issued to Zach Peters and Cam Anstey but were unable to bring in the runs.
California Baptist sent three across the plate, 8-1, in the bottom of the fifth.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lancers scored one unearned run, 9-1.
Air Force trimmed the deficit to 9-3, in the top of eight. The leadoff batter, Garrish, was issued a walk and substituted by pinch runner, Kayden Bradshaw. A Zapp single advanced the runner and enabled Bradshaw to steal third. Adams recorded an RBI with a line out to right field, plating Bradshaw. Pinch hitter, Luke Elmore put a single up the middle and Ben Niednagel followed with a ground out to move the runners up. Zapp took advantage of a passed ball to score one run.
CBU tacked their final unearned run on the board in the bottom of the eighth, for a closing score of 10-3.
