USAF ACADEMY, Colo. — Air Force Lacrosse is proud to announce two key staff appointments ahead of the 2025–26 season, further strengthening its commitment to developing leaders of character and excellence on and off the field.
Colorado Hall of Fame Coach Scott Popelar, entering his fourth season at the Academy, has been named Director of Player Development. Coach Popelar brings decades of coaching success across multiple levels and a wealth of experience that will directly benefit Air Force cadet athletes.
"Coach Popelar is a thoughtful leader and a passionate mentor who embodies the core values of the Air Force Academy," said Coach Wilson. "He believes deeply in the whole-person model of development, and he will play a critical role in helping our cadet-athletes achieve personal, academic, and athletic success."
In his new role, Coach Popelar will work closely with the team in areas including leadership development, culture-building, and overall student-athlete support. His return signals a continued commitment to building warfighters to win and leaders of character for our nation.
The program is also pleased to announce the promotion of Thomas Muldoon to full-time assistant coach, effective immediately. Following a successful tenure as Director of Operations, Coach Muldoon steps into this role with an impressive background as both a player and coach.
A two-time All-American and three-time All-Ivy selection at Brown University, Muldoon led the Bears to two Ivy League Championships and a berth in the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship. His professional playing experience includes time in Major League Lacrosse (MLL), and his coaching career has included stints at Air Force, Amherst College, and Colorado College.
"Coach Muldoon brings a dynamic mix of competitive experience, coaching excellence, and a deep commitment to mentoring our cadet-athletes," Coach Wilson noted. "He's already making an impact with recruiting, and we are thrilled to have him on staff as we prepare for an exciting 2025–26 season."
These staff additions mark an important step in advancing the mission of Air Force Lacrosse and continuing to foster a culture of excellence.
