Air Force Lacrosse Names Colin McGuire as Assistant Coach

USAF Academy, Colo. – Air Force Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Bill Wilson has announced the hiring of Colin McGuire as the program's new assistant coach.
"Colin McGuire is one of the brightest young coaches in lacrosse today," said Wilson. "I am thrilled to welcome him to our program. While Colin is an outstanding on-field coach, he is first and foremost an educator and mentor. His attention to detail, ability to connect with players, and commitment to excellence make him an ideal fit with the mission at USAFA and with Air Force lacrosse, as we pursue ASUN Championships and national prominence."
McGuire joins the Falcons following three highly successful seasons at the University of Richmond, where he served as an assistant coach overseeing all aspects of the Spider offense. In 2025, Richmond posted a program-best 14–3 record, an undefeated 5–0 mark in Atlantic 10 play and captured its first-ever A-10 regular season title along with a second conference tournament championship in three years. The Spiders earned their first NCAA Tournament victory—an upset over No. 8 North Carolina—and climbed as high as No. 5 in the national rankings.
During his Richmond tenure, McGuire's offenses consistently ranked among the nation's best. In 2025, the Spiders finished second nationally in scoring margin, eighth in clearing percentage, ninth in scoring offense, and 11th in points per game. He helped develop multiple All-Americans, including Aidan O'Neil, Max Merklinger, and Joe Sheridan.
In 2024, McGuire's offense set Richmond program records for shots (671) and goals (218) while ranking among the top-10 nationally in shot percentage, scoring margin, and points per game. He guided Dalton Young and Lance Madonna to back-to-back Atlantic 10 Offensive Player and Midfielder of the Year honors, with Young signing to play professionally in the Premier Lacrosse League.
Prior to Richmond, McGuire spent four seasons as an assistant coach / offense coordinator at the University of Lynchburg, helping the Hornets to a 49-18 record, two ODAC championships (2021, 2022), and three NCAA Tournament appearances. His work produced seven USILA All-Americans, a Division III Player of the Year, and multiple conference honors.
As a player at Lynchburg, McGuire was a USILA Scholar All-American and earned All-America honors in 2018. He helped lead the Hornets to the 2015 NCAA Division III Championship game and finished his career ranked among the program's all-time leaders in assists.
A native of Odenton, Md., McGuire earned his bachelor's degrees in business administration and sport management from Lynchburg in 2018 and completed his MBA in 2021.
