Falcons shot best round of tournament on final day

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force golf team shot a 287 on the final day of the fourth annual Folds of Honor Collegiate, Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the American Dunes Golf Course in Grand Haven, Mich.
Air Force's 287 (+3) in the final round is the best the Falcons have ever shot at the Folds of Honor at American Dunes. The 287 also allowed the Falcons to finish ahead of Army on the final day of the tournament. Air Force started the day seven shots behind Army, but finished 13 ahead of the Black Knights.
The team score was the best by the Falcons since the Loyola Intercollegiate, Feb. 27, 2024.
Air Force's score of 287 in the final round was the sixth best of any team in the tournament including two shots better in the final round than ninth-ranked Florida State.
Junior Eli Huntington led the Falcons in the final round with a one-under par 70. Senior Eric Liveringhouse and junior Carson Baker each shot 71 (even). Senior Ted Davenport shot 75 and fellow senior Brooks Morrel came in at 82.
Baker and Davenport led the Falcons over the 54-hole tournament, each shooting 227 (+14). Huntington finished at 228, followed by Liveringhouse (232) and Morrell (236).
Huntington made five birdies on the day, while Baker and Liveringhouse each made four. On the final two holes for the Falcons, No. 17 and No. 18, Air Force's four scoring golfers combined to shoot six-under-par.
Alabama, ranked 18th in the nation and the 2024 Folds of Honor Collegiate Champions, won the event for the second straight season with an 847 (-5). Notre Dame was second at 853 (+1) while Cincinnati and Kansas tied for third at 863 (+11). Air Force was 14th at 905.
Air Force senior captain Brooks Morrell will compete in the annual Stephens Cup on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 15-16, at Shoreacres Country Club in Lake Bluff, Ill.
The Falcons will then host the 56th annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Saturday-Monday, Sept. 20-22, at the Eisenhower Golf Course.
