Falcons Return to Action at Greeno / Dicksen Invitational

The Air Force cross country team is back in action this weekend, when members of the men's squad travel to Lincoln, Neb., for the Woody Greeno / Jay Dirksen Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20.
MEET INFORMATION
The 35th-annual Woody Greeno / Jay Dirksen Invitational, a meet co-hosted by the University of Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan University to honor two of their longtime coaches, will be contested throughout Mahoney Golf Course (7900 Afams St) in Lincoln. The men will complete an 8Kc circuit, beginning at 10:00 a.m. (CT), while the women will follow with a 5K race 50 minutes later. Admission is $5, and spectators are encouraged to park in the Mahoney Park lots, located to the north of the course, off North 70th and Fremont. Results will be available via Black Squirrel Timing (a direct link can be found on the Falcons' schedule page at GoAirForceFalcons.com).
HISTORY 101
Air Force has competed at the Greeno / Dirksen Invitational 17 times since 1999 – and captured the team title in eight of those appearances. After tying with Nebraska for the championship at their first meet, the men have won seven titles outright (2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2011, 2012, 2016), while Ben Payne (2003), Abe Wengel (2004) and Jim Walmsley (2010, 2011) have claimed individual titles. On the women's side, Air Force captured the team title in 2021 to help the Falcons to a sweep that year.

Junior Allen, Ethan Ashley, Will Bradbury, Corbin Cole, Christopher Creedon, Ryan Daly, Ashton Higgerson, Cody, Kelley, Auge Martin, Alex Pinckney, Ben Scheller, Josh Shriver, David Sliwinski, Roman Thomas, and Joseph White are scheduled to travel to Lincoln for the Woody Greeno / Jay Dirsksen Invitational.
MEN RANKED NO. 24 IN COACHES
The men are ranked No. 24 in the latest edition of the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll [Sept. 16], while the men are fifth and the women are ninth in the Mountain Region.
THE NEXT COURSE
The Falcons return to action next weekend, when they split for a pair of meets. Part of the team will head to Columbia, Mo., - site of this year's NCAA Championships – for the Gans Creek Invitational on Friday, Sept. 26, while the rest of the squad will stay in Colorado Springs for the Ted Castaneda Classic on Saturday, Sept. 27.
