Volleyball Opens Mountain West Play Against Nevada, Wyoming

The Air Force volleyball team kicks off the second half of its season this week, when it opens Mountain West play against Nevada and Wyoming. The Falcons will host the Wolfpack at Cadet East Gym on Thursday, Sept. 25, before travel to Laramie, Wyo., to face the Cowgirls on Saturday, Sept. 27.
MATCH INFORMATION
Thursday's match at the Academy is slated to begin inside Cadet East Gym at 6:00 p.m. (MT), while first serve for Saturday's match at the UniWyo Sports Complex will be at 1:00 p.m. (MT). Tickets for the Falcons' home match can be purchased at GoAirForceFalcons.com and the Academy's Clear Bag Policy will be in effect. Both matches will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network and MW App (available on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, and Android TV), with Jason Carter and former Falcon Emily (Frick) Ricketts on the call for Thursday's match.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Nevada finished the non-conference season with a 4-6 records. The Wolfpack, who are coming off a split weekend at the Bobcat Classic (3-0 win over Montana State, 0-3 loss to Santa Clara), were led during the first month of the season by Bella Sydney, who leads the conference with a .400 hitting percentage. Wyoming, who will host Colorado State on Thursday night, enters Mountain West play with a 4-7 record. The Cowgirls closed out the non-conference season with a win over Portland and a pair of five-set losses to Long Beach State and Idaho State at home during the UniWyo Invitational. Highlighted by wins in nine of the last 13 meetings, Air Force is 14-12 lifetime against Nevada. The Falcons have won the last four matchups at Cadet East Gym for an 8-5 home record against the Wolfpack. Wyoming has dominated the all-time series with Air Force, holding a 48-8 lifetime advantage over the Falcons. Three of the Falcons' wins have occurred in Laramie, with the last – a thrilling 17-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-23, 15-7 reverse sweep victory – happening in 2022.
AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Air Force finished the non-conference ranked first in the Mountain West in opponent hitting (.151), kills (13.11), and assists (12.21), while ranking second in service aces with a 1.700 per set average. Individually, Mia Loyd leads the Mountain West in assists – the only conference setter to average at least 10 helpers per set (10.21) – and is ranked second in service aces (0.45), while Ashley Bible and Alysa Walker are ranked second (3.44) and third (3.43), respectively, in kills, while also holding top-four marks in points (Bible – third at 3.99, Walker – fourth at 3.79).

Air Force is 5-20 all-time in Mountain West openers, 3-9 when conference openers are held at the Academy, and 1-2 when opening MW play against Nevada. The Falcons haven't opened league action against the Wolfpack since 2017, after previously playing them three times in a four-year span (2014, 2015, 2017).
THE NON-CON REWIND
Air Force finished the non-conference season with an 8-4 record – marking the fourth-most non-conference wins at the Division I level. Backed by an 8-1 start to the season, the Falcons collected eight out-of-conference victories for the third time in four years (8-4 in 2022, 8-3 in 2023, 8-4 in 2025). It is the eighth time that Falcons have finished the first half of the season with a winning record – and the 10th time they've finished .500 or better.
THE DYNAMIC DUO
Ashley Bible and Alysa Walker both reached the 20-kill plateau during the Falcons' five-setter with Northern Colorado on Sept. 19 – becoming the fifth pair of Falcons to reach that milestone in the same match. Bible (21) and Walker (20) combined for 41 of the team's 61 kills and marked the first time since 2016 that Air Force has produced two 20-kill attackers in the same match.

Air Force will host the Aztecs for the final time as conference foes on Thursday, Oct. 2, before welcoming the Rebels to Cadet East Gym on Saturday, Oct. 4.
