After dropping the No. 3 doubles match, the Falcons earned the point with a win at No. 2. AJ Moore and Langdon Tingleaf clinched the point with a win over Chantron/Biss David 7-6 (7-5), in a match that came down to the tiebreaker.
In singles the Falcons went 4-2 overall, but won the first three matches to quickly clinch the game.
Alec Fritzinger got the first win at No. 4 over Camille Chantron in straight sets at 6-4, 6-4. Phillip Deaton then won at No. 1 over Andre Steward in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (5). Jack Brown then clinched the game with a win at No. 2 over Oumar Diallo in straight sets 6-4, 7-5.
Air Force also got a win at No. 3 as AJ Moore defeated Yassin Elaroussy, coming back down a set to win 2-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5.
"Today was a full team effort," head coach Evan Urbina said. "The guys have put in the work to be prepared, and it was great to get back to competing. We battled through some pressure situations and were able to stay resilient throughout. Alec played some amazing tennis today to get the first win on the board and I was happy to see AJ battle through some adversity on his way to a three-set victory. We're excited to hit the road next week in Nebraska. Go Falcons and thanks to all who braved the cold to attend our home opener!"
Air Force returns to action Jan. 30 at Creighton and Feb. 1 at Nebraska.
