Air Force Downed At UNLV Saturday

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - Air Force men's basketball (3-11, 0-3 MW) fell at UNLV (7-6, 2-0 MW), 67-39, in Mountain West action Saturday afternoon at Thomas & Mack Center. Freshman forward Lucas Hobin led the Falcons with 11 points.
UNLV controlled the boards, out-rebounding the Falcons 49-32. The Rebels held a 40-22 in points in the paint. Forward Tyrin Jones led UNLV with 14 points. Howie Fleming Jr. added a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Air Force struggled to get its offense going in the first half, falling behind 35-20. The Falcons shot just 30 percent from the field in the opening half. UNLV used a 24-10 advantage in rebounds, including a 9-2 mark on the offensive end to score 20 points in the paint.
The Falcons continued its offensive struggles in the second half, scoring just 19 points. Air Force was held to 28 percent shooting on the day.
Hobin led the Falcons in scoring off the bench. He also led the Falcons with two steals. Forward Caleb Walker added 10 points and game-high seven rebounds. Walker was 5-of-7 from the field.
Air Force had three players make their collegiate debuts. Freshmen Brendan Martin and Sam Imade and sophomore Elliott Taite played their first-ever college games.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 6 hosting Utah State. Tip time is 7 pm MT and the game will be televised by Altitude and streamed on the MW Network.
