USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (3-12, 0-4 MW) fell to Utah State (13-1, 4-0 MW), 99-62, in Mountain West action Tuesday night at Clune Arena. Junior forward Caleb Walker led the Falcons with 12 points and six rebounds.
Air Force struggled with turnovers early, faced with a press defense by Utah State. The Aggies led 45-31 at halftime with an 8-1 advantage in points off turnovers and 13-4 in second-chance points.
For the game, Utah State finished with 31 second-chance points, aided by 14 offensive rebounds. They also shot 59 percent from the field, with 48 points coming in the paint. MJ Collins led the Aggies with 20 points. Kolby King added 15 points off the bench.
Walker was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and went 4-for-5 from the line for the Falcons. Freshman Kam Sanders added 11 points for the Falcons, with three assists and four rebounds.
Sophomore guard AJ Patterson scored a career-high nine points and freshman forward Lucas Hobin hit three three's for nine points. Freshman forward Brendan Martin also hit both of his three-point attempts for six points. Freshman guard Ethan Greenberg added five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Air Force shot 41 percent from the field, making six three's on the night. The Falcons made 14 free throws, shooting 74 percent from the line.
