
Air Force Falls To New Mexico

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (3-13, 0-5 MW) fell to New Mexico (13-3, 4-1 MW), 91-49, in Mountain West action Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. Freshman guard Kam Sanders led the Falcons with 13 points.
New Mexico knocked down 14 three's on the day and its 16 steals led to a 22-8 advantage in points off turnovers. Guard Jake Hall led four Lobos in double figures with 24 points and five three's made. Forward Tomislav Buljan added 14 rebounds.
Air Force opened by scoring the first five point of the game, but New Mexico countered with a 14-0 run to take control of the game. The Lobos forced the Falcons into several turnovers and held a 14-2 advantage in points off turnovers to lead 45-22 at the half. The Lobos also knocked down seven three's in the opening half.
The Falcons were able to up its scoring output in the second half with 27 points.
Sanders was 5 of 11 from the field, adding three rebounds. Forward Caleb Walker reached double figures in scoring for the fourth straight game with 11 points for the Falcons. He also led the team with seven rebounds.
Forward Kolby Gilles led the reserves with six points on 3-for-4 shooting. Guard AJ Patterson led the Falcons with assists off the bench. Sophomore guard Elliott Taite scored his first-career points with a basket late in the game.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 13 at San Jose State. Tip time is 7 pm PT and the game will be broadcast on NBC Sports California and streamed on the MW Network.
