Ellison Taylor Leads Falcons on Final Night of WAC Main Event

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Following a dominating victory at 165 pounds, Air Force junior Ellison Taylor was named the Outstanding Boxer for the final night of competition at the WAC Main Event in Seattle. Taylor's victory helped the Falcons to a 2-1 record on Saturday (Jan. 31) – and a 4-1 mark for the tournament.
Taylor secured the Falcons' first victory of the night before the final bell, as he forced the referee into stopping his bout with Cincinnati's Sebastian Duffin in the third round. Sophomore Maya Lee, the reigning 147-pound national champion, added to Air Force's win total with a 150-pound decision over Cami Johnson of Navy.
Overall, the Falcons finished the two nights at the Washington Athletic Club with a 4-1 record against teams from across the National Collegiate Boxing Association, as Sela Panuve and Samantha Villa picked up victories on Friday.
Select Falcons will kick off the Wing Open Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 4, while other members of the team will close out the regular season at the Mills Lane Memorial in Reno, Nev., on Friday, Feb. 6.
