
Hedden named AHA Defenseman of the Week - fifth time this season

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force senior Chris Hedden was named the Atlantic Hockey America Defenseman of the Week for helping lead the Falcons to runner-up finish at the Arizona State Desert Hockey Classic, Jan. 2-3, in Tempe, Ariz. Hedden has earned the award five times this season as he posted five points in the tournament.
The defenseman from Kalamazoo, Mich., tied his career high with four points (1-3-4) in the 8-2 win over Michigan Tech in the first game of the tournament. He also blocked a career high five shots in the game. In the championship game against ASU, he had the primary assist when Air Force cut the Sun Devil lead to 3-2 in the third period. This season, his 10 goals lead the team and are the most in the nation by a defenseman. He is second on the team in points with 21 in 20 games, tied for the second most in the nation by a defenseman, and leads the team with 32 blocked shots.
The weekly award for Hedden is the ninth of his career. It is the seventh weekly award won by the Falcons this season.
Air Force is 9-4-1 in the last 14 games and 10-8-2 overall this season. The Falcons (6-5-1 and in fifth place in the AHA) host the first-place team in Atlantic Hockey, Bentley, Friday-Saturday, Jan. 9-10, at Cadet Ice Arena.
