SCOUTING THE ANTELOPES
Grand Canyon is 8-9 on the season, with a 2-4 mark in conference play, after splitting last week's home series with UNLV (0-3 loss on Thursday, 3-2 win on Saturday). The Lopes are led by Starr Williams, who leads the Mountain West with 4.50 kills per set in conference play – an average backed by a league-leading 30-kill performance against UNLV on Oct 10 and a 24-kill outing at Nevada on Sept. 24, while Aubrey Goodere is ranked third in blocking with a 1.17 per-set average. A full stat comparison of Air Force and Grand Canyon is located on Page 5 of this release.
HISTORY 101
The Lopes hold a narrow 5-4 lead in their limited all-time series with the Falcons, although the teams are .500 (1-1) as conference opponents. The Falcons have won two of the three matches played at the Academy, capturing five-set wins in 1990 and 2025.
AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Grace Fiaseu is ranked second in the Mountain West for hitting during both conference (.404) and overall (.357) action, while Alysa Walker is ranked among the league's top two in kills for overall (first, 4.14) and conference (second, 3.91) matches. In addition, for the season, Air Force boasts the individual leaders in points (Walker, 4.44), individual digs (Ella Vogel, 4.14) and team digs (15.97).
IN FOR THE LONG HAUL
The Falcons amassed 100 points in their 25-23, 22-25, 26-28, 27-19 match with Wyoming on Oct 10, marking just the ninth time in the modern era that Air Force has reached the 100-point plateau in a four-set match. The tally is tied for the sixth-highest tally in four sets, matching the 100-point matches scored against Fresno State (2025), Nevada (2019), and Utah State (2017).
WALKER'S BLACKJACK
Alysa Walker recorded a season-high 21 kills during the Falcons' four-set match at Wyoming on Oct 8 – marking the third time in two years that she has surpassed the 20-kill mark in a contest. With that performance, Walker became the 10th Falcon at the Division I level to produce at least 20 kills in a road match.
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force begins a two-week conference road trip next week, when it travels to El Paso, Texas, for the first Mountain West series with UTEP on Thursday, Oct. 22, and Saturday, Oct. 24.
