A FIGHT BEYOND THE FIELD
On Sunday, Air Force will host Grand Canyon for its Cancer Awareness match, highlighting the strength and resilience of those impacted by cancer.
Three players across the two programs have faced cancer diagnoses. Air Force's Addie Doyle and Maeve Gayer both overcame papillary thyroid carcinoma, while Grand Canyon's Addie Vali battled Hodgkin's lymphoma. All three are now in remission, bringing a meaningful connection to Sunday's matchup as the teams come together to raise awareness and recognize their journeys.
ALL-TIME VERSUS THE LOPES
Air Force and Grand Canyon have met just three times, with the Lopes holding a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series. The teams first met in 2013, when the Falcons earned a 1-0 victory at home for their only win in the series. In last season's matchup, Air Force fell 4-2, with Annika Jost and Chase Borntreger each finding the back of the net. The Falcons will look to even the all-time series and earn their first win over the Lopes since 2013.
LAST TIME OUT
Air Force (7-4-1, 2-2-0 MW) picked up their second Mountain West win, defeating UNLV (3-6-3, 1-2-1 MW), 5-3, on Wednesday evening at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The Falcons scored five goals for the first time since 2014, set a program record with two goals just 27 seconds apart and saw Annika Jost record a brace.
Jost led the offense with five points on two goals and an assist, marking her first multi-goal match since her hat trick at San Jose State last season. Chase Borntreger, Jordan Dillingham and Kendall Rippley each added a goal, while Addie Doyle, Clara Teigland and Ashley Yenawine recorded an assist apiece. Sydney Nelms made three saves in the first half, and Trishelle Lopez tied her career high with six saves in the second half.
Air Force jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead, beginning with Jost's goal directly off a corner kick. One minute later, Doyle delivered a cross to Borntreger, who slid the ball into the net. Just 27 seconds after Borntreger's goal, Jost converted a penalty kick to set the program record for fastest two goals scored. Dillingham capped the first-half scoring by flicking a corner-kick rebound into the net off a touch from Yenawine.
UNLV scored in the 59th minute, but the Falcons answered just 24 seconds later. Jost and Teigland connected on a quick one-touch sequence to find Rippley, who bounced her shot off the right post and into the net to restore Air Force's four-goal lead. The Rebels added goals in the 63rd and 66th minutes, but Air Force held on for the 5-3 victory.
AIR FORCE IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST
Air Force currently leads the Mountain West in goals (27) and goals per game (2.17), while ranking second in shots (192), points (70), and saves (61). Sydney Nelms ranks second in the league in saves (47) and saves per game (4.70).
Annika Jost ranks second in the Mountain West in points (17), points per game (1.42), and fourth in goals (6).
ANNIKA ALL THE WAY
Jost has wasted no time making her mark in 2026, tallying 17 points on six goals and five assists across 857 minutes of action. Two of her goals have been game-winners, and she has been perfect from the penalty spot, converting attempts at Texas A&M and UNLV. Jost has played a pivotal role in Air Force's offensive success, consistently coming through in key moments. She recorded the equalizer against Denver, added an assist in the win over UC Davis and netted a brace to snap the Falcons' two-game losing streak at UNLV. Her ability to create scoring opportunities and deliver in high-pressure situations has made her a driving force in the Falcons' attack.
In conference play, Jost leads Air Force with seven points on two goals and three assists, continuing to set the pace offensively as the Falcons progress through Mountain West action.
DILLINGHAM DOES IT ALL
Defender Jordan Dillingham has made her presence felt on both sides of the ball this season, emerging as one of Air Force's most productive offensive threats. Dillingham ranks second on the team with four goals while adding an assist for nine total points. She has played the full 90 minutes in eight matches and has recorded 11 shots on the season.
Dillingham has proven especially dangerous on set pieces, with all four of her goals coming off corner kicks. She found the back of the net against Army, Navy, UC Davis, and UNLV showcasing her ability to turn opportunities in the box into offensive production. While her primary responsibilities come on the defensive end, Dillingham has become a key target on corner kicks and a consistent threat around the goal.
A LOOK AT GRAND CANYON
The Lopes hold a record of 5-3-4 and an even conference mark of 1-1-1. So far, four of their five wins have been shutouts over Arizona, Buffalo, CSUN, Eastern Washington, with a 2-1 win over New Mexico. GCU has outscored opponents 15-10 and have recorded 77 shots on goal. Offensively, Ellie Johannes and Sophia Rubano lead with nine points apiece, combining for seven goals. In goal, Emma Knack has taken 11 starts and made 31 saves for a save percentage of .775.
