Men's Swim and Dive Soars as MPSF Champions

PHARR, TX., - On Saturday afternoon, the Falcons delivered a historic performance, capturing their first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships title with a commanding score of 819.50. Air Force outpaced UNLV (769.50), Wyoming (726), Cal Baptist (510), Pacific (287), and Incarnate Word (195) to secure its top finish of the meet. The championship marks Air Force's first conference title since its Western Athletic Conference triumphs in 2020, 2017, and 2016.
Across the four-day meet, Air Force made waves in Texas, tallying three individual champions, three NCAA qualifying times, five broken Academy records, two conference records, and numerous top-ten finishes in a dominant showing.
Distance swimmer Tucker Rice opened the final day with a podium performance in the 1650 freestyle, earning bronze after touching the wall at 15:27.88. He was followed closely by teammates Tyler Surratt (15:28.51) and Evan Witte (15:31.78), who placed fourth and fifth, respectively, showcasing the Falcons' depth in the distance events.
The Falcons delivered one of their strongest performances of the meet in the 200 breaststroke, highlighted by sophomore Tanner Wilson capturing his second championship title. Wilson posted a time of 1:54.28, breaking both the Academy and conference records while also earning a qualification to the NCAA Championships.
Air Force dominated the event, placing six swimmers among the top nine finishers. Brandon Cho finished fourth with a 1:57.54, while Anthony Sebastian and Camden Swigart tied for fifth at 1:57.76. Senior Bridon Rosales added a seventh-place finish at 1:58.76, and Matthew Doty placed ninth overall after clocking a 1:56.80 in the consolation final.
On the boards, the Falcons continued their strong showing as the men claimed the team diving title to cap off the dive portion.
James Winterfield earned his third individual podium finish of the championships with a third-place effort in the 200 butterfly, swimming a time of 1:44.68.
Team captain Louie Body recorded the highest Falcon finish in the 200 backstroke, placing fifth with a time of 1:44.38, while Garrett Kennedy followed in seventh at 1:45.59.
Jordan Falls rounded out the top individual performances in the pool with a fifth-place finish in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall at 43.89.
To close the meet, the 400 free relay team of Swigart, Winterfield, Joe Christ, and Doty secured the final podium finish in third place.
Up next, Air Force will send its divers to compete at the NCAA Zone E Qualifiers from March 7–11 in Flagstaff, Arizona.
