U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team sits in sixth place after the first day of competition at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships, Saturday, Feb. 7, at the X Count in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Air Force, ranked 13^th in the nation, shot a 2324 in smallbore on the opening day of the conference tournament.

Fourth-ranked Nebraska leads the tournament with a 2364 in smallbore. Third-ranked TCU is second with a 2361, followed by fifth-ranked Ole Miss (2357). Seventh-ranked Alaska is in fourth (2338), 12^th-ranked Ohio State is fifth (2327) and 10^th-ranked UTEP is seventh (2316).

Freshman Prisha Thomas led the Falcons in smallbore with a 584, just one point off of her career-best, followed by Bethany Butler (season-high 583), Lily Miller (579), Victoria Leppert (578), Megan Torrence (576), Asa Wells (575) and William Steen (566).

The final day of the PRC Championships will feature the air rifle competition on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 9 am CT in Fort Wayne, Ind.
