Air Force placed sixth at PRC Championships

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team finished sixth at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships, Feb. 7-8, at the X Count in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Air Force, ranked 13th in the nation, shot a 2324 in smallbore on the opening day of the conference tournament and then a 2376 in air rifle on Sunday for a aggregate total of 4700.
Fourth-ranked Nebraska won the conference title with an aggregate score of 4758. Fifth-ranked Ole Miss was second (4745), third-ranked TCU was third (4745), seventh-ranked Alaska was fourth (4719), 10th-ranked UTEP was fifth (4702) and 12th-ranked Ohio State was seventh (4685).
In smallbore on Saturday, freshman Prisha Thomas led the Falcons with a 584, just one point off of her career-best, followed by Bethany Butler (season-high 583), Lily Miller (579), Victoria Leppert (578), Megan Torrence (576), Asa Wells (575) and William Steen (566).
In air rifle on Sunday, Lily Wytko led the Falcons, and placed 12th overall, with a 597, just one point shy of her career high. Leppert was second on the team with a 595, followed by Butler (594, tied career high), Torrence and Miller (592), Wells (587), Thomas (584) and Steen (580).
Air Force hosts an NCAA Qualifier against TCU, Saturday, Feb. 21, at 9 am MT, at the Cadet Rifle Range.
