Air Force Downed At UC Irvine

Air Force men's tennis dropped a 4-2 contest to UC Irvine (7-5) Saturday afternoon at the Anteater Tennis Stadium in Irvine, Calif.

UC Irvine opened by taking the doubles point and then went 3-2 in singles.

Senior AJ Moore and sophomore Langdon Tingleaf posted wins in singles to lead the Falcons. Moore, a native of Irvine, won at No. 2 over Max Fardanesh in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4. Tingleaf picked up his his second-straight singles win of the weekend at No. 4 over Sohrob Amiryavari, rallying in back in three sets, 1-6, 6-1, 6-0.

UC Irvine went up 2-0 with the first win in singles. The Falcons made it a 2-2 match after Tingleaf and Moore won. The Anteaters then won at No. 6 and 5 singles in three sets to close out the match.

"Our team showed tremendous growth from yesterday. In doubles, we need to continue to hit our shots, expecting great returns, and close out points. In singles, Langdon completely turned things around after losing the first and brought incredible energy throughout the match. Matt was serving for the match and showed how tough he can be. AJ, playing in front of his family and friends, was amazing in the pressure moments. At the end, unfortunately, we weren't able to get the win, but how we competed builds confidence and trust for the future. Excited to get back on the practice court. Go Falcons!"

Air Force returns to action Sunday, March 22 at San Diego State.
