Air Force Sweeps UC San Diego In 4-0 Win

Air Force men's tennis rolled to a 4-0 win at UC San Diego (8-9) Monday afternoon at the Northview Tennis Courts in La Jolla, Calif.

The Falcons opened by rallying back to win the doubles point. From there, the momentum gained from the doubles win carried over to singles, where Air Force went 3-0 to claim the win.

After dropping the first doubles match at No. 2, the Falcons claimed wins at No. 3 and No. 1 to gain the point. Alec Fritzinger and Matthew Staton won at No. 3 over Guberman/Worth 6-4. Jack Brown and Tyler Leaird then won at No. 1 over Chundur/Nguyen 7-5 to clinch the doubles point.

In singles, Phillip Deaton opened with at win at No. 2 over Trevor Nguyen in straight sets 7-5 (7-2), 6-1. Leird then won at No. 6 over David Adamson in straigh sets 6-1, 6-4.

Langdon Tingleaf then continued his hot start to singles play with the clinching win at No. 4 over Abhinav Chunduru in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.

"UCSD is a tough team, and I was proud we were able to get the doubles point today. We handled some tough moments with a lot of resilience. Tyler served excellent to clinch the doubles point. In singles, we had a lot of close first sets, and the guys made a bunch of adjustments to keep improving their level. Tyler had great energy. Phil stayed consistent throughout, and kept making the match physical. Langdon overcame a slow start to get the clinch in singles. Looking forward to GCU. Go Falcons!"
