
Falcons Conclude Regular Season with Loss at No. 7 Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore., – Air Force baseball (25-26) concluded the regular season with an 8-1 loss to No. 7 Oregon State (43-12) on Saturday afternoon at Coleman Field. The Falcons recorded three hits on the day, while the pitching staff combined for five strikeouts.
Walker Zapp led at the plate, recording two of the Falcons' three hits and accounting for the lone run.
Bowen Brantingham (0-3) made the start on the mound, striking out two while allowing three earned runs across 2.2 innings of work. Easton Miller followed out of the bullpen and tossed 1.2 innings with two strikeouts and one run allowed. Charlie Russell recorded one out before senior Joey Collier closed the game with the final two outs.
Oregon State opened the scoring in the second inning before adding four runs in the third to build a 5-0 advantage.
Air Force answered in the top of the fifth when Walker Zapp launched a solo home run over the center field wall. The 391-foot blast marked Zapp's ninth homer of the season and cut the deficit to 5-1.
The Beavers added three insurance runs in the eighth inning to secure the 8-1 final.
With the regular season complete, the Falcons now turn their attention to the Mountain West Conference Tournament. Air Force enters postseason play as the No. 3 seed and will begin tournament action against No. 6 seeded UNLV on Thursday, May 21, in Mesa, Ariz.
