6/21/2026 1:16:00 PM | Track and Field
RATHDRUM, Idaho – Recent Academy graduate Texas Tanner captured two event titles in his professional debut at the Ironwoods Classic on Saturday, June 20. Tanner, now competing for the Air Force World Class Athlete Program (WCAP), claimed first-place finishes in the hammer and discus throws at the annual meet in Rathdrum, Idaho, with the latter coming by way of a new Facility Record.
The recently commissioned second lieutenant opened his professional career with a winning throw of 74.95 meters (245'10") in the hammer throw – a mark that bettered the field by more than one meter. He returned to the Ironwoods complex in the evening to record a winning throw of 66.20 meters (217'2") in the discus. One of three throwers to improve the facility record, Tanner added nearly a meter to the previous standard to win a tightly contested battle that saw just one inch separated the top two finishers.
Tanner returns to action at the Toyota USATF Outdoor and Para National Championships on July 23-26.
