Volleyball Set to Open Season at Chestnut Hill Invitational

The Air Force volleyball team kicks off the 2026 season this weekend, when it travels to Chestnut Hill, Mass., to face Boston College and Quinnipiac at the Chestnut Hill Invitational on Aug. 28-29.
MATCH INFORMATION
The Chestnut Hill Invitational, which features Air Force, Boston College, and Quinnipiac, will kick off the 2026 campaign at BC's Margot Connell Recreation Center on Aug. 28-30. The Falcons' match against the host Eagles will be broadcast live on the ACCN+ and ESPN+, while live stats for both contests will be available through StatBroadcast (direct links are available on the Falcons' schedule page at GoAirForceFalcons.com).

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
This is the opening weekend of the 2026 season for all three teams at the Chestnut Hill Invitational. Boston College went 16-16 last season, while holding a 5-15 mark in ACC play. Quinnipiac, who is coached by former Air Force assistant coach Kyle Robinson (2006-08), went 19-12 in 2026 and finished MAAC action with a 16-2 record.
BY THE NUMBERS
The Falcons have a limited past with this weekend's two opponents – holding just one meeting with Quinnipiac in the combined series history. Air Force, which swept the Bobcats (30-25, 30-16, 30-15) during a neutral site match at West Point in 2007, will face Boston College for the first time.
AIR FORCE IN OPENERS
The Falcons, opening a season on the road for the first time since 2021, hold a 28-22 record in the first match of a new year – a tally that includes an even 15-15 mark at the Division I level.

Air Force welcomed nine talented newcomers to its lineup for the 2026 season, with the addition of Cayleigh Cervenka, Aylani Correa, Emmerson Jones, Karina Mendivil, Jenna Morris, Neely Leathers, Jenness Orcutt, Kennedy Simon, and Ella Vogel.

Mia Loyd and Annamaria Ramos will serve as the team captains for the 2026 season.
FALCONS PICKED EIGHTH IN NEW-LOOK MOUNTAIN WEST
Air Force was tabbed eighth in the conference's annual preseason coaches' poll. The new 10-team Mountain West features returning teams from Air Force, Grand Canyon, Nevada, New Mexico, San Jose State, UNLV and Wyoming, as well as new programs from Hawaii, UC Davis and UTEP.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Falcons will play 12 matches within the friendly confines of Cadet East Gym during the 2026 season. Air Force will host Little Rock, Tennessee Tech and Idaho State at the annual Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic on Sept. 10-12, before welcoming San Jose State (Sept. 24, Sept. 26), Wyoming (Oct. 10), Grand Canyon (Oct. 15-16), New Mexico (Nov. 5, Nov. 7) and Nevada (Nov. 18-19) to the Academy for conference play.

ON THE BENCH
Macey Donathan is in her third season as the head coach of the Falcons' volleyball team. Donathan, who claimed All-America honors as a player at Arizona State and is the Sun Devils' all-time leader in career kills (1882), joined the Academy staff in January 2024, after coaching stops at Liberty, Arizona State, and Arkansas. She will be assisted on the sidelines by a trio of All-Americans – Brett Gillen (Fresno State), Kindra Gillen (Washington) and Deedra Walker (Colorado State), while Elsa (Kreig) Reist returns for her fifth season as the team's director of operations.

Over the summer, the Mountain West launched MW+, its new digital subscription platform, powered by Kiswe. The platform marked a significant step forward in the conference's digital evolution, delivering expanded access to live and on-demand content, while creating new opportunities for fan engagement and revenue generation for member institutions. The Falcons continue their season-opening road trip next week, when they head to Vermillion, S.D., to face Northern Iowa (Sept. 3), South Dakota (Sept. 4) and Utah Valley (Sept. 5) at the South Dakota Classic.
