USAF ACADEMY – The men's soccer team came up short in the home opener against UC San Diego, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The result marks the first loss for AF (0-1-2) this season. The Tritons improved to 3-0 and have yet to concede a goal this season.

The Triton's got on the board early as Oren Stuppel and Sean Ueda connected on a strike in the 10^th minute. The goal marked the third for Struppel this season. With the lead in hand, the defense mounted up to fight off an aggressive Air Force team.

The Falcons, taking 12 shots attempts, put a season high six shots on goal. Freshman forward Xidane Espinoza narrowly missed on an equalizer in the 13^th minute. Ben Brophy and Logan Zaa led the offensive effort with three and two shots, respectively, Zaa's opportunity just high of a tying goal from a deflection.

There was no shortage of effort from the Falcons as they battled for the full 90 minutes. Freshman goalie Hunter Anderson was only tested once by the attacking Tritons.

Next up, the Falcons hit the road for a pair of matches on the Pacific Coast, taking on San Francisco on Friday, September 4, and St. Mary's on Labor Day, September 8. Action is slated for 7pm PT and 1 pm PT, respectively.
