Air Force men's water polo (3-2) went 2-1 in three games played Sunday at the Bruno Classic, held at The Coleman Aquatics Center on the Brown University campus in Providence, RI. The Falcons defeated Long Island 18-16 in the opener, Connecticut College 24-7 in the second game and fell to #17 Brown 15-12 in the nightcap.

In the opener against LIU, the Falcons were able to hold off a late rally by the Sharks to hold on to the win. Air Force led by as many as four goals at 13-9 in the third quarter.

Long Island responded with a 6-2 run to take a 15-14 lead with 4:52 to play. The Falcons rallied back with a 4-1 run over the final five minutes to rally to the win.

Senior Tom Leggett led the Falcons with six goals and three assists. Senior Jack Richards followed with four goals and senior Jonah Vander Veen chipped in with three assists. Sophomore Bode Farren had six saves in goal for the win.

Against Connecticut College, six freshmen scored their first-career goals in the 24-7 win. Freshman Pierce Bateman and junior Benny Swanson led the way with five goals each. Sophomore Shane Borunda, senior Nicholas Cuenco and freshman Nolan Hicks added hat tricks with three goals each.

Freshmen John Cowles, Sam Storrs, Matthew Woodroof and Brandon Walton also netted goals for Air Force. Farren notched the win in goal for the Falcons.

Against Brown, the Falcons kept the match close, but could not overtake the Bears. Brown led 4-3 after the first quarter and 8-7 at halftime. The Falcons were out-scored 7-5 in the second half.

Leggett led the Falcons with six goals. Junior Dante Nocetti added two goals. Freshman Wyatt Sturgeon had nine saves in goal.

Air Force went 3-2 on the weekend. Leggett led the Falcons with 28 goals in four games, tallying 32 total points.

The Falcons return to action with five games next weekend. Air Force takes on Iona on Wednesday in Greenwich, CT, then play four games over the weekend at the Navy Classic in Annapolis Sat.-Sun.
