Air Force men's water polo (4-2) defeated Iona (0-5) 19-16 in a non-conference neutral-site game Wednesday afternoon at the Greenwich YMCA in Greenwich, CT. Senior Jack Richards led the Falcons with six goals scored.

In a high-scoring start, the Falcons took a 7-6 lead after the first quarter of play. Air Force led 12-10 at the half, after out-scoring the Gaels 5-4 in the second quarter.

The Falcons extended the lead to three after three quarters of play, going up 16-13. The Falcons held Iona to three goals in the fourth quarter.

Richards tallied eight points on the day, adding two assists. Tom Leggett followed with four goals and three assists. Sophomore Max Ellis scored two goals and senior Jonah Vander Veen had three assists.

Junior Jay Pyle picked up the win in the start in goal. Freshman Wyatt Sturgeon played the second-half in goal, notching 10 saves.

The Falcons return to action with four games over the weekend at the Navy Classic in Annapolis Sat.-Sun, Sept. 5-6.
