DENTON, Texas – Air Force women's soccer (4-1-0) closed their road trip with a 1-0 win over North Texas (2-2-1) on Sunday evening at Norma Knobel Hunt Stadium. For the first time since 2003, the Falcons have marked a 4-1 record to open the season and log their second shutout of 2026.

Maddy Walsh was responsible for putting the Falcons on the board late in the second half with her third goal of the season. Kendall Rippley, Ella Johnson, Chase Borntreger, Nalei Shannon, Ellie McCarron and Sophia Taylor also contributed shots on goal, keeping pressure on the UNT defense.

In the net, Trishelle Lopez tied her career high with six saves and did not allow a goal, anchoring the Falcons from the back.

The first half was paced back-and-forth, with Air Force taking four shots and UNT tallying six as both teams battled for control.

After the half, the Falcons reentered the game with fight, seeing five shots in the first 10 minutes of the second. At the 73-minute mark, Jost's shot hit the top of the woodwork, causing the ball to ricochet into the perfect spot for Walsh to head her goal past the keeper.

To maintain Air Force's lead, Lopez made four saves after the Falcon goal, coming up big down the stretch to preserve the shutout.

AF returns to Cadet Soccer Stadium for a match against Montana on September 3 at 6 p.m. MT.
