Maintaining much of the possession in the first half, Northern Colorado capitalized on a corner kick to head in its second goal of the evening, taking a 2-0 lead in the 42nd minute. Air Force entered the halftime break looking to regroup and find a way back into the match.
The Falcons came out of the break with increased pressure, working to create opportunities in the attacking third and close the two-goal gap. Air Force continued to battle for possession and looked to build momentum as the second half progressed.
At the 80' mark, Kendall Rippley chipped the ball up the field to Walsh, who pushed it through the Northern Colorado keeper's legs to cut the lead to 2-1. The goal gave the Falcons a spark late in the match, as Air Force continued to push forward and put pressure on the Bears' defense.
Following the Falcon goal, Air Force played aggressively and continued to search for the equalizer, but Northern Colorado held on through the final whistle.
