Ella Vogel Earns a Pair of Weekly Mountain West Awards

LAS VEGAS -- After helping Air Force Volleyball to a 2-1 weekend at last week's Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic, freshman Ella Vogel was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week and shared the conference's Freshman of the Week award.
Vogel is the first Falcon since 2023 to earn a weekly award from the Mountain West.
As the Falcons' leading libero, Vogel totaled 47 digs and a .980 reception percentage on 50 attempts during the three-match series at Cadet East Gym that included victories over Little Rock and Tennessee Tech, as well as a loss to eventual tournament champion, Idaho State. The Aurora, Colo., native logged 12 digs and four assists in the home-opening sweep of Little Rock on Sept. 10, before adding 18 digs and three assists in the Sept. 11 win over Tennessee Tech and a 17-dig, four-assist state line in the match with Idaho State on Sept. 12.
Vogel and her teammates wrap up the non-conference season this week, when they take on Denver, Utah and Northern Colorado at the UNC Volleyball Invitational. The Falcons will face the Pioneers in Denver on Sept. 16, before taking on the Utes (Sept. 17) and Bears (Sept. 18) in Greeley.
