U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force (5-2-1) battled Eastern Washington (5-2-1) to a 2-2 draw Sunday afternoon at Cadet Soccer Stadium in their final non-conference match of the season. The Falcons fought back from a one-goal deficit in the second half, briefly taking the lead before the Eagles answered late to send the match to a draw.

Prior to kickoff, Air Force honored six C1Cs: Chase Borntreger, Ava Carpentier, Addie Doyle, Kendall Rippley, Lauren Steinlage and Clara Teigland, in a senior recognition ceremony.

The Falcons controlled much of the attacking play, firing 21 shots with seven on goal. Ashley Yenawine and Chase Borntreger provided the scoring, while Sydney Nelms recorded one save in goal.

Eastern Washington struck first in the 29th minute and carried its 1-0 advantage into halftime. Air Force continued to push forward throughout the opening half, recording nine shots, but couldn't find the finishing touch needed to break through.

The Falcons came out of the halftime break looking for an answer and continued to apply pressure. That persistence finally paid off in the 81st minute when freshman Ashley Yenawine scored the first goal of her collegiate career.

With the ball well outside the box near the Air Force bench, Yenawine unleashed a strike that grazed just over the fingertips of the Eastern Washington goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Air Force kept its foot on the gas and took the lead just four minutes later. Annika Jost delivered a corner kick into the box, where Jordan Dillingham headed the ball back toward Borntreger. Ready for the opportunity, Borntreger finished the chance to put the Falcons ahead 2-1 in the 85th minute.

The Eagles responded almost immediately, finding the equalizer in the same 85th minute to even the score at 2-2. Neither side could find a late winner, and the Falcons settled for their first draw of the season.

Air Force now turns its attention to Mountain West action. The Falcons open league play Thursday, Sept. 24, hosting conference newcomer UC Davis at 6 p.m. MT at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
