Falcons Travel to UC Davis for First Series as Conference Opponents

The Air Force volleyball team will take its 2-0 Mountain West record to California this week, as it faces UC Davis for the first time as conference opponents. The Falcons and Aggies will face off on Thursday, Oct. 1, and Saturday, Oct. 3, at the University Credit Union Center in Davis.
MATCH INFORMATION
Air Force's two matches at UC Davis will be held at the University Credit Union Center, with Thursday's match starting at 6:00 p.m. (PT) and Saturday's contest set to begin at 1:00 p.m. (PT). SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Conference newcomer UC Davis went 2-0 in their first weekend as a member of the Mountain West, defeating UNLV in Las Vegas on Sept. 24 (3-2) and Sept. 26 (3-1). The Aggies are 6-7 on the year, with a non-conference schedule that included five nationally ranked teams. The Aggies, who upset seventh-ranked Arizona State in Tempe in early September, are backed by Ally Chandler, who leads the Mountain West in hitting with a .375 season average, and Mia Starr, who is ranked second in the league with a 9.50 assists-per-set average.
HISTORY 101
UC Davis is 6-0 all-time against Air Force, although only two of those wins have come at the Division I level. The two teams, which first played in 1981, have not met since 2011, when the Aggies defeated the Falcons 3-0 in a non-conference tournament.
AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Grace Fiaseu leads the conference in hitting during Mountain West action with a .522 average, while ranking second for the overall season at .370. In league play, Fiaseu is also listed third in blocks (1.25) and tied with Annamaria Ramos for fourth in the league in kills (3.63). Two other Falcons are ranked among the conference's top five after the opening weekend of play, as Sam Pope and Ella Vogel are listed No. 4 in aces (0.63) and digs (3.88), respectively. For the season, Vogel leads the league in digs (4.25), while Alysa Walker is ranked first in kills (3.93) and points (4.27).
TAKE OFFENSE!
Following a stellar conference-opening weekend, Grace FIaseu was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 28. The junior hit .522 for the weekend (29-5-46) to help Air Force to a pair of victories over San Jose State. Fiaseu recorded a career-high 18 kills on .422 hitting during the Falcons' 3-2 win over the Spartans on Sept. 26 – one match after hitting at a season-high .667 clip (11-1-15) in Air Force's sweep on Sept. 24.
THE MORE YOU KNOW
By earning the weekly conference honor on Sept. 28, Grace Fiaseu became the first Falcon in seven years to earn an Offensive Player of the Week award from the Mountain West (Bailey Keith, 2019). In addition, the honor marked the first time since 2022 – and just the sixth time overall – that Air Force has claimed multiple Player of the Week honors in the same season, as Ella Vogel was named the MW Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 14.
SWEEP IT UP
With its 3-0 and 3-2 victories over San Jose State, Air Force swept the first weekend of Mountain West play for just the fourth time in program history. The 2026 squad joins teams from 2014 (at Nevada, at San Jose State), 2018 (vs San Diegos State, vs UNLV), and 2023 (at Fresno State, at Nevada) to open the league action with a 2-0 record.
FIVE ALIVE
Air Force's 3-2 victory over San Jose State on Sept. 26 was the team's first five-set contest of the 2026 season. The Falcons had only gone later in a season without playing a five-set match three other times since the turn of the century – 2001 (Nov. 2 vs New Mexico), 2006 (Oct. 16 vs Centenary), 2024 (Oct.1 vs New Mexico).

With the first of her two solo stops in the Falcons' 3-2 victory over San Jose State on Sept. 26, Grace Fiaseu became the 10th Air Force player at the Division I level to record at least 40 solo blocks in a career – and just the fourth in the modern, 25-point scoring era.
