JUNIOR YEAR |2020-21: Competed in the pole vault during nine meets (four indoor, five outdoor)…registered a career-best clearance of 16’0¾” to finish fourth at the Air Force Twilight Open…claimed a runner-up finish at the Jack Christiansen Invitational (15’5¾”)…posted a season-best height of 15’1” twice during the indoor season (Air Force Collegiate Open, Championships at the Peak)…academic all-conference selection.
SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2019-20: Participated in the pole vault during four indoor meets...matched career high of 15’7” to finish third at the Air Force Holiday Open.
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2018-19: Competed in the pole vault during 12 meets (seven indoor, five outdoor)...posted an indoor-best clearance of 15’7” to finish fifth in collegiate debut (Air Force Holiday Open)...added a pair of top-five finishes at the Colorado Invitational 15’5”, fifth) and Mountain Lion Open (14’10¾”, fifth)...tallied an outdoor-best height of 14’11½” to place fourth at the Jack Christiansen Invitational.
HIGH SCHOOL: Mounds View High School...Minnesota’s all-time record holder in the pole vault with a clearance of 16’2”...two-time state champion (2016, 2018)...member of the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Full name is Calvin John Ciganik...son of Ted and Gina Ciganik...has one sister...majoring in civil engineering...future plans include becoming a CE officer...served as squadron SPARK...earned jump wings in the summer of 2019...hobbies include knitting, swing dancing (“a MONSTER on the dance floor”), playing the piano (“I can’t read music, I can only play by ear”) and calling his dad on a weekly basis...would like to add a shout-out to Wyatt Murphy, for “being the biggest man on campus”...dreams of going to Paris 2024...favorite quote is from Kanye West – “Would you believe in what you believe in, if you were the only one who believed it?”...member of Cadet Squadron 25.
