Bio
JUNIOR YEAR | 2020-21: NCAA Qualifier in the javelin...competed in that event during eight meets…earned all-conference honors after placing third at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships (197’6”)…recorded a team-leading, career-best throw of 204’3” to earn the top collegiate finish (second overall) at the Air Force Twilight Open…also earned second-place finishes at the Baylor Invitational (201’2”) and West Coast Classic (197’3”)…earned the team’s Field Athlete of the Week award following the meet at Baylor.
SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2019-20: Did not compete due to NCAA cancellation of the outdoor season.
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2018-19: Competed in the javelin throw during three competitions...recorded a career-best distance of 193’6” during a winning performance at the Colorado Invitational...added a top-five finish at the Jerry Quiller Classic (fourth, 186’6”).
HIGH SCHOOL: Bellingham High School...won the state title in the javelin at the 2018 Washington 2A Championships...added top-five finishes in that event at the 2017 (third) and 2016 (fifth) championships...also competed on the football team...earned the school’s Offensive Lineman of the Year award...named a second-team all-conference offensive lineman as a junior...collected second-team all-conference honors as a defensive end during senior year.
PERSONAL: Full first name is Nicholas, but goes by Nick...son of Richard Oesterling and Kimberly and Russell Harris...stepfather served in the Navy...has two brothers and one sister...majoring in space operations...future plans include joining the Space Force...currently serving as Athletics Officer...hobbies include playing basketball and video games...served on the Honor Cadre over the summer...member of Cadet Squadron 22.
