SENIOR YEAR | 2022-23: Team captain.
JUNIOR YEAR | 2021-22: NCAA Qualifier in the hammer throw…Mountain West champion in the weight throw…two-time all-conference selection…recorded an Academy Record distance of 65’8” to become just the second Falcon to win the men’s weight throw at the MW Indoor Championships…debuted at No. 5 on the program’s Top 10 with a (then-best) throw of 62’3¼” at the Don Kirby Invitational…named MW Field Athlete of the Week following that meet…added a top-three finish at the Air Force Collegiate Open (61’9¾”)…also competed in the shot put during the indoor season, recording a season-best distance of 50’1¼” at the conference meet…recorded the second-best hammer throw distance in Academy history during a winning 205’0” performance at the Air Force Twilight Open…became just the third Falcon to break 200-feet in that event (first since 2011)…surpassed the plateau again during a runner-up finish at the MW Outdoor Championships (201’8”)…repeated as MW Field Athlete of the Week after posting a (then-best) 199’3” to win the Aztec Invitational…also competed in the discus throw, recording a personal-best throw of 150’3” to score for Air Force at the conference meet (eighth)…received the program’s Bret Hyde Award for Drive and Determination.
SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2020-21: Recorded the eighth-best hammer throw in Academy history (193’1”) during a winning performance at the Air Force Twilight Open…earned all-conference honors after placing third at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships (187’1”)…claimed runner-up honors at the Baylor Invitational (182’1”)…also competed in the discus throw and shot put during the outdoor season…recorded a career-best discus mark of 147’7” at the West Coast Relays…opened the season with an outdoor-best shot put mark of 45’1½” at the Aztec Invitational…also competed in that event during the indoor season, posting a career-best throw of 51’1¾” at the Championships at the Peak meet…recorded the team’s best weight throw distance of 2021…registered a career-best 59’2¾” at the Air Force Collegiate Open…won that event at the Air Force Holiday Open (57’3”).
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2019-20: Earned the program’s Newcomer of the Year award...broke the team’s Freshman Class Record in the weight throw four times during the 2020 season...tallied a team-leading, career-best distance of 57’3½” to finish fourth at the Mountain West Indoor Championships...first broke the program’s nine-year-old Class Record with a 55’5½” performance at the Air Force Team Challenge...improved that Record two more times during conference series, before registering the 57’3½” throw on his final attempt...also competed in the shot put, posting a team-leading throw of 47’3” at the Colorado Invitational...added a (then-best) weight throw mark of 53’8¼” at that meet to earn the team’s Field Athlete of the Week award.
HIGH SCHOOL: Steele High School...earned all-Ohio honors in the throws...two-time national qualifier...recorded prep-best marks of 179’4” in the hammer throw, 165’3” in the discus throw and 66’2” in the weight throw...distance in the weight ranked 24th nationally...also claimed all-conference honors in football.
PERSONAL: Son of Jason Prete and Charity Thomas...father was enlisted in the Air Force...has one younger sister...majoring in military and strategic studies...future plans include becoming a pilot...currently serving as Assistant Force Protection Officer for squadron...member of Cadet Squadron 07.
