FRESHMAN YEAR | 2017-18: Competed in the javelin throw during five competitions...recorded a personal-best distance of 170’3” at the Air Force Twilight Open...picked up a top-three finish at the 7220 Invitational (168’10”, third)...earned three additional top-five finishes.
HIGH SCHOOL: St. Paul’s Episcopal High School...helped track and field team to three state championship meets...lettered four years in basketball...three-year team captain...all-state selection...three-time all-region honoree......member of the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Full name is Marshall Peyton Spires...goes by Peyton...son of James and Michelle Spires...has two older brothers – Patrick, a 2010 Academy graduate, former member of the Air Force football team and current A-10 pilot, and Jacob, the quarterback who led the University of Alabama to the 2015 CFP national championship...also has one older sister, Shelley, a 2018 Academy graduate, four-time All-American in the high jump and current member of the Air Force World Class Athlete Program...majoring in political science...future plans include becoming an RPA pilot...enjoys hunting and fishing...completed Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Expeditionary Survival Training (EST) over the summer...member of Cadet Squadron 40.
