JUNIOR YEAR | 2012-13: Competed in the javelin throw during eight meets, including the Mountain West Championships...recorded a career-best toss of 127[apos]9' to finish 10th at the conference meet...earned season-high fourth-place finishes at the Air Force Triangular (114[apos]2'), Air Force Relays (120[apos]7') and Jerry Quiller Classic (119[apos]1').
SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2011-12: Competed in the javelin throw during five competitions, including the Mountain West Championships...placed ninth at the conference meet with a clearance of 125[apos]8'...recorded a career-best distance of 126[apos]10' to finish fourth at the Front Range Classic...also claimed fifth-place finishes at the Jack Christiansen Invitational (118[apos]0') and Air Force Relays (108[apos]5').
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2010-11: Participated in the javelin throw in seven meets, including the conference championships...recorded a career-best distance of 117[apos]5' to finish fourth at the Front Range Classic...that distance was ranked second on the team...earned the team[apos]s Newcomer of the Week award following that meet...also earned a fourth-place nod (114[apos]4') at the New Mexico Tailwind Invitational...competed in the weight throw during three indoor meets...tossed a career-best 38[apos]10¼' at the Robert Shine Invitational to finish eighth.
HIGH SCHOOL: St. Francis High School...three-year varsity letterwinner in track and field...served as co-captain of the throws team as a junior...served as team captain during senior year...named to the Honor List all four years...served as Class President during Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years...also served as Student Body President.
PERSONAL: Full name is Alana Lee Piccone...nickname is 'Lana'...daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Piccone...has one older brother, Giovanni...majoring in management...future plans include working as an aircraft maintenance officer...served as Element NCO, Athletic Clerk, Honor NCO, Public Affairs NCO, Element Leader and Honor Officer...received the AF Achievement Award (2010)...attended Northwestern Preparatory...recorded an 80+ basketball toss...hobbies include dancing, soccer, reading and crafty things...took a philosophy class over the summer and worked Basic Cadet Training...served as the Demons Information Officer during the first BCT session and the Demons Delta Assistant Flight Commander during the second session...favorite throwers are two-time NCAA javelin champion, Dana Lyon (Class of 2006) and NSCA All-American David Lyon (Class of 2008)...grandfather is retired Navy...also has a great uncle that is a retired Army Air Corps B52 pilot...member of Cadet Squadron 19.
