Experience Hockey at the Academy
Air Force Hockey Camp gives young players the opportunity to train at the United States Air Force Academy while learning from Air Force Hockey coaches and experienced instructors.
The camp is designed primarily as a technique, strategy and skills camp. Players work on the individual and team skills needed to become more complete hockey players.
Campers are divided into groups according to age and ability, creating an environment where players can receive appropriate instruction and compete against athletes of comparable skill.
Hours of Ice Per Day
Full-week campers receive two on-ice sessions each day totaling approximately three hours of ice time.
Three Hockey Experiences
Two full-week camps serve older players, while Session 3 provides a condensed youth hockey experience for younger athletes.
Hockey Camp
Session 1 gives players a full week to improve their overall hockey game through focused instruction and competitive training.
Campers develop skating, puck control, passing, shooting, offensive and defensive concepts and game awareness.
Players receive multiple opportunities each day to put newly developed skills into competitive situations.
Check-In: Sunday, June 13
Hockey Camp
Session 2 offers another full-week opportunity for players to experience the Air Force Hockey training environment.
Training emphasizes individual technique, hockey awareness, team concepts and the ability to execute skills under pressure.
Players are grouped by age and ability to create appropriate instruction and competition.
Check-In: Sunday, June 20
Youth Hockey Camp
Session 3 is a two-day commuter camp designed specifically for younger hockey players.
The youth camp emphasizes skating, puck control, passing, shooting, hockey fundamentals and age-appropriate competition.
The condensed format gives younger players the opportunity to experience Air Force Hockey while developing skills and confidence.
Check-In: Monday, June 28
Complete Hockey Development
Build the individual skills, hockey IQ and competitive habits required to become a more complete player.
Technical Development
Campers work on skating mechanics, edge work, acceleration, puck handling, passing, receiving and shooting.
Training emphasizes quality repetitions and the ability to execute fundamentals efficiently at game speed.
Because the emphasis is on teaching, skill development and fun, full-contact collision checking is not allowed. Contact checking is permitted and all aspects of checking are covered in the curriculum. Our camp is not a no-contact camp.
Strategy & Competition
Players learn how individual skills connect within offensive and defensive team concepts.
Competitive drills and game situations develop awareness, communication, decision-making and overall hockey IQ.
