HIGH SCHOOL: Bartlesville High School...member of three state championship cross country teams (2014, 2015, 2016)...ran on the 4x800-meter relay that won two Oklahoma 6A state titles (2016, 2017)... participated in the state meets for track and cross country all four years...collected 15 top-10 finishes at those meets, including 10 top-five placements...finished second in the 3200-meter run as a junior...placed fifth (2014), third (2015) and second (2016) at the Oklahoma cross country championships...served as team captain as a senior...also served as co-captain during junior year...set the school record in the 5000-meter run...also ran on the record-setting 4x800-meter relay team...also competed in soccer...served as captain of high school and club soccer teams as a freshman...started on the varsity squad as a sophomore...member of the National Honor Society...named to the Honor Roll and Principal’s List all four years...founded the World Issues Club...K-Life small group leader...member of the Student Council and Spanish Club...served as president of senior class.
PERSONAL: Member of Cadet Squadron 27...nickname is Shay...daughter of Randy and Sara Stayton...has three brothers (one older, one younger, one laid to rest)...majoring in behavioral science...future plans include working in the Office of Special Investigations or Information Operations...currently serving as the Lead Personal Ethics and Education Representative (PEER) and Director of Operations...named to the Superintendent’s List for excellence in military, academic and athletic performance...member of the Forensics Poetry Team...also participates in the Steel Script and Spectrum clubs, as well as the Way of Life Committee...hates the flavor of cucumbers and the taste of coffee...hobbies includes being active, card games and poetry...former member of the Air Force cross country team...grandfather, Kenneth Wheat, served as a Marine in World War II...cousin, Zach Wheat, is an enlisted member in the Air Force...uncle, Scott Stayton, played baseball at Oklahoma State University...completed a core Astro course over the summer, while supporting fellow cadets from home...would like to add that “I’m a person of faith and love to build relationships with people”.
