JUNIOR YEAR | 2021: All-American…Mountain West runner-up…first-team all-conference honoree…clocked the fastest 10K in program history (29:25.4) to finish 26th out of 253 runners at the NCAA Championships…added a 30:39.0 to place 34th at the NCAA Mountain Regional…clocked a career-best 8K time of 23:31.1 to finish second at the MW Championships and lead the men to their second-straight conference title…finished 42nd out of 246 runners at the Nuttycombe Invitational (23:57.0) and 41st out of 149 runners at the Bill Dellinger Invitational (24:03.4)…opened the season with a four-mile time of 20:15.5 at the Air Force Open (eighth).
SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2020: Runner-up at the Mountain West Championships…first-team all-conference honoree…clocked an 8K time of 23:39.2 to lead Air Force to the conference title…also posted the Falcons’ top finish (12th) at the Silver State Collegiate Challenge (personal-best 23:34.6)…named Mountain West Runner of the Week following that meet…also competed at the NCAA Championships, posting a 10K debut of 32:43.0 (193rd).
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2019: Earned the team’s Newcomer of the Year award...competed in three 8K races, including the conference championships...scored for the Falcons at the Bill Dellinger Invitational (career-best 24:30.8, 51st)...also ran that distance at the Mountain West Championships (24:33.8, 44th) and Nuttycombe Invitational (24:49.7, 130th).

PERSONAL: Full name is Samuel Joseph Gilman...goes by Sam...nickname is “Hollywood”…son of Douglas and Annette Gilman...has one older brother, Ben, who ran cross country and track at Lee University...also has two younger siblings...majoring in management…future plans include becoming an acquisitions officer...serving as Athletics Officer for squadron…hobbies include playing video games such as competitive ranked Fortnite, walking up to strangers and acting as if he knows them, and engaging in extremely awkward conversations with people he just met...avid softball fan...worked Falcon Sports Camps over the summer…also worked in the Cadet Operations Center during Basic Cadet Training…member of Cadet Squadron 04.
