AIR FORCE HIGHLIGHTS

NCAA Qualifier, 1500-Meter Run (2025)

JUNIOR YEAR | 2024-25: NCAA Qualifier in the 1500-meter run…recorded a career-best, team-leading time of 3:41.98 (adjusted for altitude) to finish fourth at the Doug Max Invitational…that is the fifth-fastest time in Air Force history…added a top 10 finish at the Stanford Invitational (seventh, 3:46.80)…also dipped below the four-minute mark at the Bryan Clay Invitational (3:50.58)…competed in the mile three times during the indoor season…moved up to No. 21 on the program’s all-time standings after posting a career-best time of 4:05.41 at the Husky Classic.

SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2023-24: Competed in the mile and 1500-meter run…debuted on the program’s all-time standings in both events…finished fourth in the mile at the Mountain West Indoor Championships…clocked an altitude-adjusted time of 4:06.68 in the conference prelim to move up to No. 24 on the program’s all-time standings…first entered the Air Force Record Book with a 4:07.09 finish at the Windy City Invitational (No. 25)…also debuted at No. 14 on the Academy’s 1500-meter standings after posting a runner-up time of 3:45.10a at the Air Force Twilight Open…scored for the Falcons at the MW Outdoor Championships (seventh, 3:47.53)…ran on the 4x800-meter relay that accounted for the seventh-fastest time in Air Force history at the Drake Relays (7:36.07)…also anchored the sprint medley relay that posted the program’s 10th-fastest time at that meet (3:20.01).

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2022-23: Competed in the 1500-meter run during three outdoor meets…recorded a career-best time of 3:54.86 at the Azusa Pacific Last Chance Meet…made Air Force debut at the Doug Max Invitational…did not compete during the indoor season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Chanhassen High School...two-time state qualifier in cross country…claimed a pair of top-three finishes at the Minnesota AA state Track and Field Championships – second in the 1600-meter run, third in the 3200-meter run…holds the school record at 1600 meters…also competed in the state championships in Nordic skiing…received the CHS Most Outstanding Athlete Award.

PERSONAL: Full name is Benjamin Andrew Scheller…nickname is Bary…son of Mike and Kelly Scheller...both parents ran cross country at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay…has an older brother Nick, who is a 2025 Academy graduate and former member of the Falcons’ track and cross country teams…also has one younger brother…majoring in management…future plans include becoming an acquisitions officer…currently serving as a Standardization and Evaluation Officer…spent the 2021-22 academic year at the University of North Dakota…hobbies include playing video games, ping pong, Nordic skiing, and watching movies…spent the majority of the summer training at the Academy for the season…member of Cadet Squadron 25.
