FRESHMAN YEAR | 2023-24: Competed in the pole vault during 13 meets (eight indoors, five outdoors)…recorded a career-best clearance of 11’9¾” during the indoor season…debuted at No. 24 on the program’s all-time standings after posting that clearance at the Ralph Lindeman Classic…collected a runner-up finish at the UNM Team Open (11’7¾”)…posted an outdoor best clearance 11’3¾” twice (Doug Max Invitational, Air Force Twilight Open)...cleared 11’6¼” at the Kit Mayer Classic during the outdoor season, but the meet was held indoors due to weather.

HIGH SCHOOL: Cypress Woods High School…two-time Texas UIL 16/6A district champion in the pole vault…area champion as a senior…regional qualifier…cleared the 12-foot bar during 12 meets as a junior and senior…finished with a career-best clearance of 12’7”…three-year letterman…also competed on the varsity cheer team…graduated Summa Cum Laude.

PERSONAL: Full name is Emma Catherine Opalacz…daughter of Kevin and Catherine Opalacz…has two older brothers…majoring in English and earning a minor in Spanish…futures plans include becoming a pilot…favorite things are Jesus, cats and sweatshirts…enjoys spending time with friends and family…completed Powered Flight and Combat Survival Training over the summer…member of Cadet Squadron 15.
