SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2024-25: Posted Air Force Top 20 times in the 800-meter run during both the indoor and outdoor seasons…clocked a career-best time of 1:50.91 to finish first out of 139 runners at the Bryan Clay Invitational…debuted at No. 20 on the Academy’s all-time outdoor standings with that finish…also won the Stanford Invitational (1:51.97)…posted an indoor-best time of 1:51.81 (No. 20 all-time at Air Force) during the preliminary round of the Mountain West Indoor Championships…scored for the Falcons in the final (sxith)…academic all-conference.
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2023-24: Competed in the 800-meter run during five meets…clocked an outdoor-best time of 1:54.31 (adjusted for altitude) to win the Air Force Twilight Open…added a time of 2:55.16a to finish second out of 30 runners at the Colorado Invitational…named Mountain West Freshman of the Week following that meet…posted an indoor-best time of 1:56.20a during a runner-up finish at the Air Force Last Chance Meet…ran the second leg of the 4x800-meter relay that posted their seventh-fastest time in Air Force history (7:36.07) at the Drake Relays…academic all-conference.
HIGH SCHOOL: Traverse City West Senior High School...earned all-state honors in cross country as a junior and senior...also claimed all-state recognition in track both years...captured three regional championships as a senior (cross country, 1600-meter run, 800-meter run)...conference champion in the 800-meter run...recorded personal-best marks in the cross country 5K (15:25), 400-meter dash (50.79), 800-meter run (1:52.46), and 1600-meter run (4:18.04) as a senior...earned varsity letters in cross country and track all four years…member of the National Honor Society…served as NHS president as a senior…graduated with a 3.96 GPA.
PERSONAL: Full name is Jonah James Hochstetler…son of Bradley and Tara Hochstetler…father served as a flight surgeon with the 389th Fighter Squadron…has two younger siblings (one brother, one sister)…majoring in foreign area studies…earning a minor in Japanese…future plans inc lude becoming a pilot…named to the Dean’s List…hobbies include skiing, cycling, backpacking and playing video games…traveled to Nellis AFB, Nev., over the summer for Operation Air Force…also worked the TQC Flight during Basic Cadet Training…member of Cadet Squadron 18.
