JUNIOR YEAR | 2022-23: Competed in the pole vault 15 times (seven indoor, eight outdoor)…recorded a career-best clearance of 11’10¾” at the Mountain West Indoor Championships to move into No. 20 on the program’s all-time indoor rankings…first debuted on the Academy’s Top 25 following an 11’5¾” performance at the Air Force Holiday Open…matched that mark at the Ralph Lindeman Invitational, before improving height to 11’10” at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational…recorded an outdoor-best height of 11’7” at the Doug Max Invitational…that clearance is ranked 22nd on the program’s all-time outdoor standings…debuted at No. 25 one week prior after clearing 11’4½” at the Beach Invitational…won the Dan Caprioglio Early Bird Invitational with an outdoor-opening clearance of 11’0¾”.
SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2021-22: Did not compete for the track and field team.
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2020-21: Competed in the pole vault during four meets (two indoor, two outdoor)…recorded a personal-best clearance of 10’4” in outdoor debut at the Jack Christiansen Invitational.
HIGH SCHOOL: Cedar Ridge High School...began competing in the pole vault as a junior...two-year varsity letterwinner...high school record holder in the pole vault...captured the Texas 6A titles at the district and area levels as a junior...also placed sixth at the Texas UIL 6A Region 2 meet and qualified for the Junior Olympics that year...finished second in the district meet as a senior...Region 2 qualifier...served as women’s team captain during the 2018-19 season...member of the National Honor Society...named to the Honor Roll all four years.
PERSONAL: Full name is Kasarah Marie Hernandez…daughter of David Hernandez and Deborah De Young...has one older sister and two younger brothers...majoring in systems engineering, human factors…currently serving as the Assistant Standardization/Evalution Officer…member of the 500 Club after recording a perfect score on the PFT....attended the Academy’s Prep School...served as Athletic Officer during the fall semester (2019)...awarded an Athletic Rope for getting over 400 on the prep school’s physical fitness test...hobbies include spending time with family and friends...enjoys being on the water during the summer (lakes, rivers, beaches)...spent 10 years as a competitive gymnast, before transitioning to the pole vault as a junior in high school...competed in the 2017 Junior Olympics for gymnastics...maternal grandfather is a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant…worked Combat Survival Training over the summer, serving as a squadron director of operations...member of Cadet Squadron 29.
